Come Holy Spirit, Come

The Fellowship of St. Martin de Porres had the opportunity to function at a healing service in South Philadelphia on Friday January 5, 2007. We wish to thank Mr. Rudy Valentino of WTMR 800 AM Radio. Rudy and his dedicated group of the faithful (the Sons and Daughters of the Sacred Heart) coordinate these special healing Masses on the first Friday of each month. The service is always held in the South Philadelphia area. You can contact the the radio station at 856-962-8000 for details on upcoming healing Masses. The February service will be held at St. Edmund Church in South Philadelphia. The evening begins at 5:30pm with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and rosary and holy hour devotions to the Sacred Heart. The Eucharist is celebrated at 7:00pm and the healing service begins after the Eucharist.

It was a privilege to have the opportunity to minister to the beautiful assembly of the faithful at the service. It's always overwhelming to stand in the person of Christ, however, we all must do this. The ordained priest is not the only child of God who is called to act in the person of Christ. It is a call we all must answer. Granted, there are many sacramental duties reserved to the ordained, however, that doesn't let us off the hook. We are responsible to act in the name of the Lord and minister to his sheep when they are in need. The ministry of healing that Rudy and his partners bring to the people of God is a beautiful example of just how the priesthood of the baptized is exercised. The coordinators truly stand in the person of Christ. The Spirit is palpable. The Father is glorified. I could spend this entire posting writing about the great impact of this ministry, but those of you who have experienced one of these services already know how valuable these programs are. For those of you who have never been to one of the services, I cannot urge you strongly enough: Go!
